Where did the word democracy come from?

Ans: The word democracy comes from the Greek word ’demos’ meaning the people and ‘kratos’ meaning ‘government’ or ‘rule’. Democracy therefore means government by the people as against monarchy or dictatorship which were autocratic rule of one person and oligarchy being rule by few.
