Ans: Municipal corporations are vested with many functions granted to them by the state government. The functions are related to public health, welfare, public infrastructure and other development activities. Municipal Corporation employs a large number of workmen on contract basis. Many labourers do the work of lifting, transporting and dumping of debris and garbage in various parts of the city. The labourers are given daily wages.
