Answer
While countless saints have shown extraordinary devotion to Vitthal, Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar are considered among the greatest bhakts in the Varkari tradition. Sant Tukaram (17th century) composed thousands of devotional abhangs expressing deep love for Vitthal and is revered for his simple, heartfelt devotion. Sant Dnyaneshwar (13th century) wrote the Dnyaneshwari commentary and established the philosophical foundation of Vitthal worship. Other notable devotees include Sant Namdev, Sant Eknath, and Sant Janabai. Among mythological figures, Pundalik is honored as the devotee for whom Vitthal came to Pandharpur, making him uniquely significant in Vitthal's story.
