Answer
Ans. India is a vast country. It is difficult for the central government to govern the whole country. So, our democratic structure has three levels of governance: National, State and the local government. The Local government refers to Panchayati Raj institutions and Municipal institutions. Local self government is different from the local government. Local government means “administration of a locality by officials appointed by the government,” whereas local self government refers to “management of local affairs by the natives of the area itself or their representative”.
