Answer

Systematics is a branch of biology that deals with the classification of organisms by understanding evolutionary relationships. Classification systems scientifically started with Carolus linnaeus when he gave is two kingdom classification system using the external characteristics. Eventually, more systems by Hackael, Copeland, and Whittaker came into being. With the understanding of evolution, scientists could figure that the characteristics they used may not be true measure as it shifts with time. Hence a time-relative understanding of living form and their origin needs to be understood as that was the only metric which would be true and not liable to change. Systematics emerged to fulfil this. Scientists now use a host of tool and characteristics which included external characteristics as well asmolecular prints to understand the evolutionary relationships between organisms. The advent of molecular biology now allows them to sequence proteins, DNA, RNA as well. It allows systematists to classify organisms better.
