Heat capacity is the amount of heat energy reuired to raise the temperature of an object or substance by 1°C (or 1 K). It's measured in J/°C or J/K. Heat capacity depends on both the material and the amount—more mass means higher heat capacity. Specific heat capacity is the heat capacity per unit mass.
