Ans: On September 22^nd or 23^rd in the northern hemisphere, when night and day are nearly of the same length and Sun crosses the equator moving southward. In the southern hemisphere on 20^th or 21^st March, the autumnal equinox corresponds to the centre of the Sun crossing the equator moving northward.
