Permanent tissues are plant tissues that have lost the ability to divide and have taken on a permanent shape, size, and function. Two types of simple permanent tissues are parenchyma and collenchyma. 
1. Parenchyma: Cells are living, thin-walled, isodiametric, and often have intercellular spaces. 
2. Collenchyma: Cells are living, elongated, and have irregularly thickened cell walls, especially at the corners, with little or no intercellular spaces.
