Is velocity an average speed?
GeneralClass 12AllAnswered 27 Mar 2026
Answer
Not exactly. Velocity includes direction, while speed does not. Average velocity is displacement (straight-line distance with direction) divided by time, whereas average speed is total distance traveled divided by time. For a round trip, average velocity is zero, but average speed is not.
