Is every natural number a rational number?
GeneralClass 12AllAnswered 27 Mar 2026
Answer
Yes, every natural number is a rational number, but a rational number need not be a natural number.
Examples:
- 1 = 1/1 (natural and rational)
- 2 = 2/1 (natural and rational)
- 3 = 3/1 (natural and rational)
- But -2/3, 0, 1/2 are rational but not natural numbers
Note: Natural numbers are {1, 2, 3, 4, ...}
