Is Earth Day on April 22 every year

Yes, Earth Day is observed annually on April 22, maintaining this fixed date since its inception in 1970. This consistency helps create a reliable global moment for environmental awareness and coordinated action across countries, time zones, and communities. The date was strategically chosen to fall between spring break and final exams in the United States, maximizing student participation in the original event.

The unchanging date has helped establish Earth Day as a recognized milestone in the environmental calendar, allowing organizations to plan campaigns, events, and educational programs well in advance. While the specific day of the week varies each year—sometimes falling on a weekend, other times on a weekday—the April 22 date remains constant, ensuring that the environmental movement has a predictable annual platform to launch initiatives, measure progress, and refocus global attention on urgent ecological issues.
