Count the decimal places and use that as the power of 10 in the denominator.
Examples:
(a) 0.5
- 1 decimal place
- 0.5 = 5/10 = 1/2
(b) 0.75
- 2 decimal places
- 0.75 = 75/100 = 3/4
(c) 2.125
- 3 decimal places
- 2.125 = 2125/1000 = 17/8
(d) 0.008
- 3 decimal places
- 0.008 = 8/1000 = 1/125
General rule: For n decimal places, divide by 10^n and simplify.
