Q

Write a short note on the water cycle.

A

The water cycle is the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. It involves several processes such as evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection.

Water from oceans, rivers, lakes, and plants evaporates due to the heat of the sun and rises into the atmosphere as water vapour. This vapour cools and condenses to form clouds. When the clouds become heavy, water falls back to the Earth as rain, snow, or hail, which is known as precipitation.

The water then collects in rivers, lakes, and oceans or seeps into the ground as groundwater. From there, it again evaporates, continuing the cycle.
