It is the main source of heat and light for all living beings on Earth. Without the Sun, life would not be possible because Earth would be extremely cold and dark.

The distance between the Sun and the Earth is about 150 million kilometers. The energy from the Sun supports all life processes, including photosynthesis in plants. Hence, the Sun plays a vital role in sustaining life on Earth.
