What is the difference between a local IP and a static IP?

• Local IP (private IP): the address your device gets inside your home or office network, assigned by your router. It only works within that network — no one on the internet can reach your device using it. Typical format: 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x
• Static IP: an IP address that does not change. It can be local (your router always gives your printer the same address) or public (your internet provider always gives your connection the same address).

Think of it this way: your local IP is your apartment number inside a building. Your public IP is the building's street address. Static just means the number never changes.
