Cations are those which are positively charged ions and it is formed by losing of one or more electron by an atom. For eg: Sodium loses 1 electron to form sodium ion Na+ ion

Anions are those which are negatively charged ions and it is formed by gaining of one more electrons by an atom. For eg; Chlorine gains one electron and form chlorine ion Cl- ion
