A Mature Graafian Follicle:

• Basal lamina – thin supporting layer around granulosa cells
• Theca externa – outer protective/supportive layer
• Theca interna – inner layer that secretes estrogen
• Antrum – fluid-filled cavity containing liquor folliculi
• Zona pellucida – protective layer around the oocyte
• Oocyte – developing female egg cell
• Granulosa cells – cells that nourish and support the oocyte
