Distinguish between the unitary and federal forms of government.
Ans. Governments are classified on the basis of level of government and division of powers between them. Thus, government is divided into two forms – Unitary and Federal.

1. Federation is a device towards union. There are, therefore, two levels of government viz-the central Government and the state governments. 2. In a federation, state governments, are not more than agents of the central government. 3. It cannot be changed easily. Thus, the units of federation enjoy independent status because of decentralization of powers. |
