Q

Define density. Which materials float in water?

A

Density is defined as the mass of a substance per unit volume. It tells us how heavy or light a material is compared to its size. Materials that have lower density than water float on its surface, while those with higher density sink. For example, cotton and wood float on water because they are less dense than water. On the other hand, stones and metals usually sink because they are denser.
