What were the reasons for the decline of the Mughal empire?

. (i) The successors of Aurangzeb were not talented enough to control over their powerful mansabdars

(ii) Governors ( subadars) who controlled the office of revenue and military administration enjoyed more powers over the vast regions of the empire.

(iii) Peasants and Zamindars rebelled in many parts of northern and western India challenging the Mughal authority.

(iv) While the Mughal empire was facing the financial crisis and political crisis, Nadir Shah, the ruler of Iran invaded and plundered Delhi.

(v) The invasion of Nadir Shah was followed by a series of plundering raids by the Afghan ruler Ahmad Shah Abdali five times between 1748 and 1761.
