What is the condition of girls interms of education in India at present?

According to the 1961 cencus, only 15 per cent of all girls and women wereliterate while about 40 percent of all boys and men (7 years old and above ) literate. But according to the cencus of 2001, 76 per cent of boys and men are literate, while 54 per cent of girls and women are literate. It means that schooling of women and girls have increased dramatically.
