What is a coalition?

A coalition government is formed when no single political party gets a majority in the Legislative Assembly. In such cases, two or more parties come together and form a government by combining their strength. These parties work together and share responsibilities. Coalition governments are common in democratic systems where multiple parties contest elections and no single party secures enough seats to rule independently.
