How is the Rajya Sabha formed?

Rajya Sabha consists of 250 members.
 Out of 250, 12 members are elected by the President who have distinctions in the
various fields.
 Rest of the members are elected by the State Legislative Assemblies.
 It has a tenure of six years and one-third members get retired after every two years.
