How is conventional rainfall caused?

During the day, when the land gets heated up, the air near the surface also gets heated and rises. The cooler air from above sinks down, only to be heated and forced to rise again. Thus, a conventional current is formed and when the temperature reaches below the dew point clouds are formed that give rainfall.
